You Know It's Been A Bad Day When You Leave The Parking Lot And Find Out Your Brake Pedal Has No Pressure At All.

I didn’t hit anything. I’m okay. The car (except for the brakes) is okay. The underwear maybe a goner.

After pumping the pedal I got pressure back, but now the pads are tightly on the rotor for the passenger side front wheel. It’s been a bad week and I don’t have it in me to fight it tonight. I bummed a ride home from a co-worker and will either figure it out tomorrow or have a professional deal with it.

Oof - glad you and the car are otherwise ok, but that’s a real code brown. :(

It was out of nowhere, I had just 5 minutes before drove to the parts warehouse, picked up my part, jumped back into the car to head back to my customer and finish my last service call and bam, no brakes. No warning. Just no brakes when I was pulling out onto the street.

Whatever line is broken, make sure you replace the others. Should be easier and cheaper to do all at once. Had a friend who blew his rear brake lines, got them fixed, and then blew the fronts a week later.

What kind of car? My 2012 Versa had complete brake fail one chilly morning and didn’t return until I’d turned off the car and restarted it. I used the hand brake to stop in the parking lot.

Went to the Nissan dealer and bought a new master cylinder soon thereafter. Brake fail was a thing for some Versas.

That’s why I’m leaning to having a professional deal with it. They should have the parts to get it fix completely the first time. As bad as this was, I was lucky it happened when it did. 10 minutes later I would have been in stop and go traffic and would have hit something.

Kia Soul.

Right now the other 3 corners seem to work normally, but the front right is clamped down.

It’s pretty amazing that can happen with the duals we have now. I mean my old power wagon has a single! I guess the brake booster and added complexity can create more issues. My brake lines are armored military lines too so they should last now that they are new. I still think a single is crazy but people say they have never had an issue.

My equinox has a bad design where if I had to pull the emergency brake I’d have cup holder, arm rest, probably my Un-drank coffee in the cup holder in the way to pull the lever.

I’ve thought about it before. But my brakes haven’t just gone.

Glad you weren’t in traffic. You got another day for this week to turn around. If not, screw it. It’s the weekend.

Few minutes later I would have been in traffic. A hour or so after that I would have been doing 65 mph on the four lane home. Could have been a lot worse.

Up to you, brakes are always a good thing for pros to do. However, it is most likely something you can diagnose and do yourself if you want.

I think I could fix it but I’m already busy. I’m planning on keeping the car for a few more years. Having a pro fix it first time, and for a long time will be worth it. Especially since I’m almost done with payments.

Having blown out brake lines before, I know that feeling. Glad everything (other than the braking system) is okay!
